Tips for Fall PR Planning

8/30/2024

Although the end of summer is still officially a few weeks away, September tends to mark the official end of summer for many.  Summer vacations are over, kids are back in school and both the media and businesses are moving full speed ahead once again, including with their PR.

Here are just some of the ideas to think about for your fall PR planning:
  • Holiday tie-ins.  Are there any holidays this fall that your business or organization can leverage?  In addition to the major holidays coming up, there are plenty of other special events and observances.  Did you know that October celebrations include “National Fire Pup Day,”  “National Black Dog Day” and “National Hair Day” among others?  Observances like these can be opportunities to promote your company through PR
  • Editorial calendars.  Many media publish annual calendars of planned articles, theme issues and the like, and reaching out to these media to try to get your product or company included in these stories is a great way to expand your PR outreach.   Fall is a great time to research your target media for relevant opportunities from their editorial calendars, as their 2025 calendars begin to become available in the fall
  • 2025 PR planning.  Of course, if you haven’t started it already, fall is the time to begin your PR planning for 2025
